As soon as you enter the door, you'll notice the distinctive decor of this restaurant. Such could be expected in the Boston downtown area.
The dimly lit ambiance and the modern zen appeal tries to create a feeling of privacy but yet the small restaurant is not sound treated. That even with the small number of people when we visited, the radio playing in the background and the conversations that were going on seemed a bit loud for me.
I do apologize for those who liked this restaurant. But in my opinion, this restaurant's major failure is that they are trying hard to be an upscale japanese restaurant and yet the food they serve are undoubtably chinese. This is just one of the many japanese restaurants around who try to pretend to be authentic japanese restaurants in price but in fact, the food they serve are just slightly better than what you can get from any chinese restaurants serving sushi and makimono for less price or perhaps your nearest grocery sushi counter.
You pay for the ambiance? Maybe. For the food, I've definitely had better. If there is another japanese restaurant in this area of Mansfield, MA, We'll need to check it out and see if it's any better than this. Other than that, we'd stay away from this even when we crave for japanese food.
