The New Apple iPad 3 Unveiled Today in San Francisco!!

Today Apple has unveiled the much anticipated iPad 3 (or The New iPad as how Apple wants to call it). Apple did not disappoint, The New iPad is packed with new amazing features.

  • It as the A5X chip with quad-core graphics.
  • It has 3.1 million pixels, 2048 x 1536 resolution. That's about 264 pixels per inch on its improved retina display. Images will look sharper than ever on this new iPad.
  • It also has the new iSight camera with a 5-megapixel sensor.
  • For those who love to take videos, this new iPad can capture 1080p video with Image Stabilization
  • The new iPad has voice dictation that types what you say. All you have to do is tap on the new microphone key on the software keyboard and speak to it.
  • More importantly, it has 4G LTE, the next generation of wireless communication. With 4G LTE service from either Verizon or AT&T, The New iPad allows for personal hotspot that allows you to connect your other mobile devices and take advantage of the blazing connection speed where ever available.
  • Price: $499 for the 16GB; $599 for the 32GB and $699 for the 64GB models (comes in black or white). By the way, the iPad 2 prices have been reduced and now starts at $399
With 200,000 of apps available on iTunes for the iPad, there is 200,000 reasons to purchase this new gadget. I myself would like one but I won't be lining up on the first day of release. I can wait until everybody has one. :)

A couple of drawbacks though, one is that since this version of LTE capability caters for the North American market. There could be issues when you try to roam with it in other countries. We'll find out once the final specs have been released. The other drawback is that since the unlimited data plans are no longer available from Verizon and AT&T, with this faster data speeds, it means you could max out your data limits sooner than you might expect.

Concurrent to this event, Apple also revealed the latest Apple TV. It now has capability to play 1080p resolution videos. This actually sucks since we just got the previous version and it only plays 720p and there is no way to upgrade it unless you buy a the newly released version.

But now with The New iPad released with 4G LTE capability, it is only a matter of time before Apple releases the much awaited iPhone 5. We'll surely get one (or two), but this time with the 64GB memory. With all the photos and videos that we take of our little one, 32GB on our old iPhone 4 is just not enough.
