Seattle Kids Weekend Events: Oct. 24-26

waterfront trick-or-treat

The countdown to Halloween is on and this weekend’s roundup includes lots of non-scary family fun. For starters, we have a pumpkin carving party, a popular Halloween activity on Capitol Hill and a high-flyin’ Halloween bash. We also have a Halloween party for preschoolers, a hilarious production based on a children’s fairytale and an artsy fartsy Halloween event. If you’re looking for even more non-scary fun, head to the Seattle Waterfront for Trick-or-Treating (pictured), games and activities and stop by the Seattle Aquarium for under water pumpkin carving demonstrations, Halloween activities, games, treats and face painting.

Family Fun Night: Pumpkin Carving
Bring your pumpkins and your little ghouls to the Seattle Children’s Museum to carve pumpkins. The Museum will provide you with the tools and the space to get messy and will take care of the clean up so you can make a gord-geous masterpiece. Plus, it’s after-hours at the Museum so that means no crowds to explore the exhibits. Other activities include pumpkin putt putt golf, a Mr. Bones skeleton puzzle and trick-or-treat bag decorating. Be sure to wear your costume. Fri., 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Seattle. $3 to $5 per person. RSVP required. All ages. Event details.

Hilloween
Put on your costume and boogie over to Capitol Hill’s annual family Halloween extravaganza. In addition to a costume parade and trick-or-treating at participating merchants, there will be musical performances by The Not-Its! and Eli Rosenblatt, carnival games, jugglers, a magic show, face painters, bouncy houses, prizes and more. Sat., 12 p.m.-7 p.m. Seattle. Free. All ages. Event details.

The Museum of Fright (pictured)
Get ready to be scared silly with lots of safe and fun educational activities at this annual family-friendly event. Wear your costume to the Museum and enjoy Halloween treats, craft projects, ghost parachute drops, face painting, monster bowling, and ghost stories. Plus, take a stormy flight on a frightful simulator. Sun., 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Seattle. $5 to $10 (under 17 in costume free with paying adult). All ages. Event details.

Eastside

Storybook Theater’s Hansel & Gretel
In this latest Studio East production, see what happens when a well-known brother and sister duo decide to explore the woods without their parents’ permission and run into a sweetie of a Top Chef. Will this crazy kitchen witch try to turn Hansel into her next meal? You’ll have to see the show to find out. Sat.-Sun., 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. (additional dates and locations through November 23). Renton. $11. Tickets required. Ages 3 and older. Event details.

MIPA Halloween Party for Preschoolers
Take your costumed kiddos to this annual, non-spooky Halloween event designed for preschoolers and kids ages 1–6. There will be Halloween-themed crafts, games, activities and of course, plenty of tricks and treats. Psst! If you’re feeling extra adventurous, participate in the Monster Mash Dash Family Fun Run at Luther Burbank Park before the party. Sat., 10 a.m.-noon. Mercer Island. $3 to $5. Ages 1-6. Event details.

Bam-O-Ween
Take your crew to the Bellevue Arts Museum for a ghoulish good time. Make skull bracelets, spooky drawings, creepy clay creations and Halloween prints, play Halloween Bingo, see artist demos and get your face painted. Costumes are encouraged. Sun., 12 p.m.-4 p.m. Bellevue. Free. All ages. Event details.
